Australian Red Cross has developed these resources to help teachers educate students from pre-school to year 12 about important emergency preparedness and recovery information.
These resources include activities and lessons regarding preparedness for events that can be foreseen, as well as recovery activities and lesson plans by age group for students recovering from traumatic or catastrophic events.
The IEU recommends that the activity of reviewing and evaluating teaching resources for use with your students may meet any one of the following Standard Descriptors:
- 1.1.2 (1.1 in ACT) - Use teaching strategies based on knowledge of students' physical, social and intellectual development and characteristics to improve student learning
- 1.5.2 (1.5 in ACT) - Develop teaching activities that incorporate differentiated strategies to meet the specifically learning needs of students across the full range of abilities
- 4.4.2 (4.4 in ACT) - Ensure students' wellbeing and safety within school/centre by implemented school/centre and/or system, curriculum and legislative requirements.
